Villajoyosa - Pueblo costero con tradición pesquera

Villajoyosa

Our story begins in the heart of Villajoyosa, a coastal town with a rich fishing tradition. Here, among the waves of the Mediterranean and the scent of salt, we discovered our passion for the flavours of the sea. The seafaring heritage of this unique place is reflected in each of our dishes, created with the same respect and care that local fishermen have for their craft.

Inspiration

Born and raised in Villajoyosa, Roberto Ceretto grew up between the sea and the kitchen, inspired by his father, who was both a fisherman and a cook. His passion for gastronomy took shape during his studies in Benidorm and Santa Pola, where he learned the value of working with fresh, locally sourced products, and the creativity to transform them into memorable dishes. The Mediterranean, its flavours, and its traditions became the foundation of his culinary vision.

Experience

With more than 25 years of experience, Roberto's career has been marked by two decisive stages: his work alongside chef José Miguel Ruiz, Michelin-starred in Moraira, where he learned the art of conveying emotions through cooking, and his time with Monty Boddy, where French technique merged with Mediterranean soul and touches of Asian influence. These experiences cemented his philosophy: combining precision, innovation, and respect for the product in every dish.

Som de Mar

Opening Som de Mar was a lifelong dream come true: sharing his cooking in his hometown, in a place he considers an authentic Mediterranean paradise. Here, with the sea as the backdrop and the local market just a stone's throw away, Roberto offers honest, high-quality cuisine at a fair price. Each dish tells a story of tradition, quality, and dedication, inviting you to enjoy the most authentic flavors of Villajoyosa.
